PROMOTING PEACE,LOVE,AND A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT

Posted on Feb 26th, 2007 by MusicofmyMind : Singer of Songs MusicofmyMind
One inherent part of being an artist is the knowledge that your creation will, at some time, be viewed by other people...hopefully a lot of people. Anything that we put out into the universe sends a message. I say, if you are going to broadcast a message to a lot of people, then make it a positive message. That is not to say that all of it has to be "happy" per se. Even within a sad, angry, or vengeful song one can convey a positive message. One reason I feel so strongly about putting a positive message into the world is because I believe that everything we send out we get back. If we send out hate, we will recieve hate in return. If we send out violence we will experience violence in our lives. But if we send out love constantly, then we are not only helping ourselves but we are helping everyone we touch. Focusing upon the positive aspects of this world is an amazing way to directly influence and perpetuate that positive energy. But many times we hear good news and say, "oh yeah well that's nice but there are fifteen wars going on right now and a lot of people are dying every moment and my car is a piece of shit". With this action we are only perpetuating the wars and the violence that have been an ever-present factor in the history of our world and not making our car work any better...why is that...maybe because people are constantly creating realities that they do not want. "Why would we do that?" because we are always so busy focusing on what is wrong that we never get to how we can make it right. In any case I don't believe that people strive for hell. I believe that most people unconciously create it for themselves everyday by ignoring the things that come natural to them as human beings. Mark Twain said, "Nature knows no indecencies, man invents them". Most people are so caught up in their own thoughts, and the thoughts of other people that they forget what it is that makes them so unique and incredible. FREE WILL. The fact that EVERYONE ALWAYS has the choice to create happiness within and around them. So I say we savor the good news that we find (http://www.happynews.com/), and tell people about it, and make a big deal about it. Only good can come from that. Yet it is still very important not to forget or ignore the atrocities that are committed everyday upon good people who deserve nothing but bliss. So we must make a big deal about those things too right? RIGHT! The only difference is once we recognize the problem we mustn't approach it from the negative angle of who's to blame or who's to be punished but how it is that we, as individuals, can make the most impact on this subject right NOW. What I want for every person on this planet is to love themselves, and their neighbors. To live in a healthy, beautiful, and natural environment. AND to experience all of the pleasures that this wonderful world has to offer. There are so many, art, sex, sport, friends, technology, information, even just good old visceral experience. One of the only things that I know to be absolutely true in all cases is that change is inevitable. I urge everyone to not let every change just happen to you, but for you to conciously make them. And when we make them let us do it not only with good intentions, but with great expectations. For it is within these expectations where the real change is made. That is within YOU. This is why I find art, and music in particular, to be so moving. Because it has the power to focus our cluttered minds for just a few minutes, and it is in those minutes that we can stop speeding around and just be. While I'm "just being" I want to be moved in a positive direction. Whether it is listening to a sad song when I'm sad that makes me not so sad because I know someone else has been there too, or I am happy and want to be moved to a place of love and creativity, positive music can only move us in a positive direction. This is what I want to be my broadcast to the world, whoever you are, wherever you are, make a change in a positive direction however you can. If every person began to do this every day we would see the world transformed. Wouldn't you know it, we are already seeing it. SPREAD THE LOVE.

On the marketing of a compact disc.

I sometimes like it that I can't figure out the words to a song. It gives the artists and the songs a sort of mystery. Hey that's cool. Mystery. I want to be mysterious sometimes. Especially when I'm seen as a performer. It makes the entire live performance experience much more magical. I was thinking how could one maintain that mystery while also giving incentive to buy the actual disc. Especially in a day where most musical reproductions are in digital format. And that's when it hit me.  No lyrics. All ten or whatever songs...words and all. But when you look inside the booklet. No lyrics. Instead simple thoughts or anecdotes that correspond or perhaps describe each song. It's almost like an interview with the artist. Although you don't get the words and so you may have a few instances here or there where your like " boo slippity slippity doo bop duneh!"  instead of the actual words. Thereby keeping the mystery while also selling more records. If one could turn one's albums into works of  literature as well as musical compilations the necessity for purchasing music in hard format is back! The records would have deeper value. Value that can not be repilcated by downloading mp3's from itunes. mp3's EEEW. Don't pay good money that you could be giving DIRECTLY to the artists that need it for degraded sound quality. Most people don't even notice the difference but that's because you haven't listened to the same song first in mp3 then in AIFF format. Pretty distinguishable difference. Basically what compressing music does is slices off all of the quitest pieces of the music leaving holes in the recording. You know what I say? If holes don't sound bad I don't know what would.

Just some music of mind for the enjoying!
